Review of the Rotte product show day

Record attendance at this year's in-house exhibition

10 years Rotte product show day, 10 years of innovations, 10 years of hands-on plant engineering.

On the last day of January, this year's in-house exhibition took place under the motto "Experience the future of mechanical engineering with Rotte". More than 120 customers, partners and interested parties used the day to find out about our current plant projects in production.

The industry highlight this year was "Renewable Energies". We were able to present projects around hydrogen technology as well as for the production and handling of PV modules. These fully automated projects make production in Germany and Europe competitive.

The Clip & Close assembly system met with particularly great interest. In this project, eight robots ensure that a wide variety of fresh food cans are assembled into sales sets, labeled, laser-cut and packaged with operating instructions under regular quality control.

Rotte Technology Partner

In addition to our innovative plant projects, another focus of our in-house exhibition is traditionally on the technologies of selected partners:   In our lecture series, Manfred Winter, Optonic, reported on the success factors and challenges of 3D bin picking in industrial manufacturing.

Markus Knobel from Unity spoke on the topic of 3D simulation. During his talk, he emphasized the importance of such an approach. "With simulation, we learn from mistakes before they happen!" Rotte is already using this tool in practice to develop and validate a completely new concept for sorting components in furniture production.

Together with the company IMESS, Rotte developed a StackValidator for this purpose, a strategy software with the aim of automating the stacking of fronts. "The clear task was to provide the dynamically generated stacking images in a database, for automatic storage by the robot," Dr. Christoph Urbanietz described in his presentation. "Simulations and strategy development also play an essential role in the use of automated guided vehicles," said Clemens Wollmann from the company EK Robotics, providing interesting insights into current areas of application for AGVs.

Dr. Dominik Ahlers, SLM Solutions, reported on the possibility of using 3D printing, making it clear that upstream and downstream processes of additive manufacturing often still require further technological development.

Our long-standing partner 3Tec, which specializes primarily in the area of furniture production, gave a presentation on the topic of master computer connection and job management. On the basis of the joint project of the sorting plant for Burger Kitchens, the possibilities of production control technology were presented.

At the end of the day, all participants of the in-house exhibition agreed: It was a very successful and informative product show day. The day was rounded off by a great social networking event.
