"Short-time work, delivery difficulties or declines in orders - fortunately, none of this has been an issue for us in recent months," Benedikt Rotte, managing partner, reported at the beginning of the conversation. Nevertheless, the uncertainty in the market, among customers, suppliers and employees was noticeable.

Rotte has been successfully developing and researching Industry 4.0 for years, resulting in solutions that are used in networked production: These include the ‘Smart Factory Panel’ operator assistance system and the ‘Active force-sensitive workpiece carrier’, which won the NRW Craftsmanship Award.

From the smallest to the strongest robot in the world

The smallest robot, the LR-Mate, is used by our customers, for example to carry out quality inspections or for deep drawing and cutting. In 2014, we integrated the world's most powerful robot model, with a shoulder height of 4.5 m and a payload of a full 1,350 kg on the 6th axis: the "M2000". Equipped with a complex camera system and a control program, it has since been handling and measuring metal blocks the size of a VW Golf at our customer's premises.
